There's a Lot of incorrect information here.

Hi

I don't know how you've collected your info on the Acorn computers range but an awful lot is very inaccurate. Im sorry to sound like I'm on a downer, this is a huge project and you are to be commended for taking it on but, please make sure the information you present is accurate otherwise it will just annoy enthusiasts like me.

Some examples from your page on the Acorn A540

Maximum RAM was only EVER 16MB on these machines. They have 4mb soldered on board along with the Memc1a.

Expansion was via 4mb ram cards, each with its own Memc1a. Three could be installed, combined with the 4mb already on board. Giving a total of 16mb (4x4mb)

There were no methods taking ram up to 64mb (64mb was addressable by the os, but never implemented)

No A540 that was ever sold had the vidc20, these were for the later RISC PC range. Now I can appreciate that you may have inadvertently stumbled upon information regarding the DEVELOPMENT of such chips At Acorn computers, USING A540 class machines, but only one such machine is known, an R225 (basically a Discleas version of the A540/R260)

Lastly, no the A540 did not have a 1.6mb floppy drive. No pre-A5000 machine did. Nor were there the numerous revisions you claim. Motherboards were issue 1 and 2. MEMC1A and VIDC1

A lot of what you've attributed to the A540 is blatantly incorrect. Have you used some sort of AI trawl to generate the page ?

I could pick holes in other pages too, but its late and I'm only on my phone.

I'm not trying to have a downer on your intent but accurate information is already out there

There's also the Arc Wiki project, an online effort to collate and update various sources.

Your efforts are to be applauded, but please don't misrepresent things.

An Acorn R260 owner, and A3010, and A5000 and RISCPC, and various non working "projects" 🤣

Best wishes

Hi Andrew,

Thank you so much for your feedback, I completely understand and appreciate your feedback. I unfortunately don't have any Acorn machines but I tried to compile the best infomation I could. I completely accept the innacuracies in the page and will get them fixed straight away. I'm sorry that you've found so many errors and I will do my best to make sure this dosen't happen in the future!

All the best,
Josh
